Toyota Designed A Quirky Baseball-Themed EV For Tokyo Olympic Games

Toyota had great preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but the events were postponed because pf Coronavirus outbreak, and now that they're finally happening, things are quiet. While the corporation had planned to deploy a fleet of around 3,700 autos for the Olympics, we have not heard a lot about them in recent months.

That's about to change, thanks to a baseball-themed Toyota that went viral on social media today. The EV focuses on the APM Mobility Vehicle and was meant to carry relief pitchers.

This variant, on the other hand, is significantly more radical, with an open design and a single back seat shaped like a catcher's glove. Astroturf-like carpeting with the shape of a baseball field can be found elsewhere. The entire thing sounds absurd, but the Cleveland Indians were the first big league team to employ an automobile to transport relief pitchers to the field in 1960, according to ESPN. Bullpen automobiles, on the other hand, have mostly gone out of favor in recent decades.

The APM is described by Toyota as a low-speed, short-distance electric car that is suitable for moving attendees and personnel around big sporting events and site areas. The standard variant has 3 rows of seats, the 1st of which is allocated to the driver's seat (located in the center).

2nd and 3rd rows can hold 5 passengers, and the seats in the 2nd row may be retracted to enable a wheelchair. The pitching car is glorious extravagance, with a capacity of 62 miles (100 kilometers) and a max speed of 12 mph (19 km/h).
