This autumn, Toyota raises the curtain on its much-anticipated Crown Sedan, offering a sneak peek into what the future holds for this model.

Steer clear of confusing it with the Crown Crossover, essentially an elevated sedan. The Crown Sedan proudly flaunts a “hammerhead” front-rear inspired by the bZ4X. Distinguishing it further from the EV variant is its prominent trapezoidal grille adorned with vertical highlights.

Boasting dimensions of 200 inches in length, 74.4 inches in width, and an approximate height of 60 inches, the Crown Sedan's 120-inch wheelbase outstretches the Mirai by 2.2 inches, gifting an extra 3.2 inches between the wheels.

Freshly released images unveil an interior reminiscent of the designs seen in the Crown Sport and Crown Crossover.

Inside, the Crown Sedan boasts a revamped center console, complete with concealed cup holders. A lavish spread of wood trim brings a touch of elegance to its interiors.

Toyota has previously revealed that this rear-wheel-drive sedan will be available in both hybrid and fuel cell variants. The latter likely shares its specs with the Mirai, equipped with a 1.24 kWh lithium-ion battery, trio of hydrogen storage tanks, a rear-set electric motor generating 182 HP and 221 lb-ft torque, and a dedicated fuel cell.

Details on the hybrid model remain scanty. However, the Crown Sport is driven by a hybrid 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, paired with dual electric motors and a nickel-metal hybrid battery. This setup grants the crossover a combined horsepower of 230, complete with all-wheel drive.

Japan's BestCarWeb has hinted at a GR Crown Crossover debuting in summer 2024. They also alluded to an enhanced Hybrid Max powertrain version.

The existing powertrain reportedly delivers a cumulative 350 HP in the Japanese market. Yet, whispers from the grapevine suggest the GR edition could elevate this to an impressive 375 HP. There's also buzz about its potential for "exceptionally agile handling", hinting at a sportier suspension setup.
