Toyota Celebrates 53 Years With Limited-Edition GR Yaris TGR Italy

Both the GR Corolla and the GR Yaris share the same 1.6-liter, three-cylinder turbo engine, but only the GR Yaris is available in the United States. A special edition GR Yaris based on the 1973 Corolla 1600 Coupe will be available to commemorate the 53rd anniversary of Toyota Italy's first World Rally Championship triumph.

Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-slick tires, 18-inch Heritage Gold forged wheels, and retro-style stripes are all part of this unique version. But instead of the six-speed manual transmission that comes standard on the GR Yaris, it has an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Special emblems, an inside plaque with a unique number, and a certificate of authenticity are some of the distinctive details that Toyota includes. Security features like Parking Sensors, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are part of the Tech Pack that comes standard on the vehicle.

The regular GR Corolla costs $37,635 in the US, but this special edition costs €67,500 (approximately $74,500). The increased cost is a result of factors such as the 22% Italian value-added tax and additional expenses associated with automobiles with high emissions. For instance, with all the taxes and fees in France, a GR Yaris might cost as much as €92,290.

Orders open on September 9 and require an initial payment of €2,500. Along with branded items, buyers will also receive a personalized car cover and VIP seats to the 2025 TGR Italy season. The vehicle will make its debut in October, and sales will begin around the year's conclusion.

The Lexus LBX Morizo RR, a small crossover, now offers the same engine with 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, available with either a manual or automatic gearbox. It won't be seen on American roads, much like the GR Yaris.
