This $250K Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Is Basically A Yacht With Wheels

Mercedes-Maybach is back at it again, and this time they’ve taken the already luxurious SL-Class and cranked it up to full-blown billionaire mode. Meet the Maybach SL680 Monogram, a convertible that’s basically a rolling VIP lounge. After its fancy debut in Ibiza, we’re now getting a closer look at two versions of this ultra-opulent drop-top.

First up, there’s the Red Ambience edition, rocking a deep, rich paint job. Up front, the hood is finished in Obsidian Black Metallic and covered in 307 Maybach logos. Yes, they actually counted them. Future owners also get the usual chrome overload: grille, bumper, side skirts, rear fascia—it’s all shiny, all the time.

Then there’s the White Ambience version, which keeps the same black hood and chrome bling, but swaps the wheels for a new five-hole 21-inch design. Both versions look like they belong in the driveway of a cliffside mansion or casually parked outside a yacht club.

The real headline is that Maybach has gone logo crazy. Monograms can be found on various parts of the vehicle, such as the hood, grille, roof, roof cover, and seat backs. It’s less understated elegance and more “I paid a quarter million dollars, and I want everyone to know it.”

Underneath, the Maybach SL680 still packs serious performance. It uses the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 from the SL63, putting out 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough to rocket you from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.1 seconds before topping out at 162 mph.

It’s not just about speed, though. Mercedes gave the SL680 a suspension makeover too: new valves, softer springs, and a semi-active hydraulic roll stabilization system to keep things smooth. Plus, they added extra insulation, so all you’ll hear is your favorite playlist (and maybe the gentle applause of jealous onlookers).

Maybach SL680

No official pricing yet, but early whispers say the Maybach SL680 Monogram will start around $250,000 in the U.S. If you’ve got the cash and the taste, this model could be your summer cruiser.
