The V8 Lives (For Now): Lexus IS 500 Ultimate Edition Arrives For 2025

For 2025, Lexus is giving the IS 500 a proper send-off with the new Ultimate Edition—a limited-run version of the V8-powered sports sedan that’s become a rare breed in today’s market. Only 500 units will be built, making this one of the last chances to grab a naturally aspirated V8 in a luxury sedan before they’re gone for good.
Under the hood, nothing changes, and that’s a good thing. The 5.0-liter V8 remains untouched, still putting out 472 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic, staying true to the car’s performance roots.

The Lexus IS 500 Ultimate Edition introduces a new exterior color called “Wind,” giving the car a clean and classy look. It also gets some visual upgrades, like bright red Brembo brake calipers and a set of 19-inch matte black forged BBS wheels, which add just the right amount of aggression.

Lexus hasn’t shared a full look at the cabin yet, but we do know it’ll feature a two-tone Circuit Red and Black interior with NuLuxe and Ultrasuede materials. The steering wheel is inspired by the Lexus LFA, and there are plenty of thoughtful touches throughout: red seat belts, a serialized badge, a dimpled leather shift knob, and even a special animation on the infotainment screen to mark its uniqueness.

Pricing hasn’t been revealed, but expect the Lexus IS 500 Ultimate Edition to sit above the regular IS 500 F Sport Performance, which starts just over $60,000.
