The USPS Employees Will Deliver Mail In NGDV Starting 2023

Starting 2023, the U.S. Postal Service will use the NGDV Delivery Vehicle built by Oshkosh Defense, after winning the project out of 15 other companies that bid on their projects to make the next-generation USPS vehicle. And the manufacturer seemed to use the 30 years of  Grumman LLV’s weak points to bring a modern variant for more comfortable and safer transport for the post workers. 

From the revealed photos, the NGDV features massive bumpers and a tiny front end with a large windscreen and a boxy body that maximizes cargo capacities. It’s not an eye-catching vehicle, but it’s far more comfortable with air conditioning and improved ergonomics.

This means more package volume to be The safety is ensured by the airbags, traction control, and the blind-spot warning system. With 500,000 to 165,000 NGDVs vehicles to assemble, this a contract for ten years. Each one will have fuel-efficient internal combustion engines or battery powertrains, obviously retrofitted to be retrofitted with advances in electric vehicle technologies.

The initial investment lays at $482 million, funds used to finalize the design of the NGDV and build0out the manufacturing facility for production. Accordingly to this plan, the first mail delivery made by NGDV could begin in 2023.
