The Russians want to launch a new compact and affordable car reminiscent of ZAZ.

Soon the automotive industry of the Russian Federation will launch two new models. It is about a compact crossover, and SUV that will remember easily about the ZAZ car known as "Zaporojets".

The project was implemented at the Russian Agricultural University with the participation of the Institute of machines and models.

Tengiz Dzotsenidze- one of the authors specified that the new crossover will remind you of "Zaporozhets", but will not be one in the true sense, especially because the car would not be assembled in Kiev. With the "Zaporojets" will only relate some similarities reminiscent of an iconic car, while off-road model is closer to Gaz-69 model.

The main purpose of the engineers and designers is to create a low-cost car mainly for residents of villages. In the laboratory of the agricultural vehicles from the Russian Agricultural University, appeared the model that would have taken the name of "leader" and would represent a crossover and a SUV, writes the Russian newspaper "Izvestia". The authors of the project have set as a main objective to make a car that would have an accessible price not more than 290 000 rubles.

In terms of technical specifications, the car will be equipped with a turbo-diesel engine capable of producing 65 horsepower and can be mated to both manual and automatic transmission. In the basic version of "leader" comes equipped with an anti-lock braking system ABS and lack of airbags.
