Is Fiat 124 Spider uglier than its rival Mazda MX-5?

Fiat 124 Spider is a new roadster, built on a shared frame with the Mazda MX-5, and recently it was revealed at the world premiere at the Auto Show in Los Angeles. The Sportscar is called Fiat 124 Sport Spider and is equipped with a 1.4-liter engine, which develops 160 horsepower turbo-aspirated.

Two cars that share many things in common and are so different at the same time, Fiat 124 and Mazda MX-5.  I don't want to be misunderstood, but Mazda MX-5 seems to be the most hideous car ever built. That's it and I do not like it! It is simple, just lack of any charm. The Japanese tried to give it a sporty, sexy aspect but they failed. In contrast, Fiat's situation is slightly different.

The Italian designers have worked well with silhouette giving it a neoclassical aspect, with modern, high-tech forms opulent and sharp edges. Moreover, the design of the new 124 Spider model is inspired by "old" bearing the same name, from which it gets its headlights or taillights rounded squarish. In a word looks richer, more luxurious somehow it is exempt from feeling "cheap / accessibility", which you cannot say about Mazda MX-5.

But, ultimately, everyone is entitled to choose the model that suits it the most, and in this sense, both Fiat and Mazda have led the mission to complete.

The differences between the two are not limited only to appearance. Where Fiat has its own petrol engine with a four-cylinder and a volume of 1.4 liters, which develops a total of 160 horsepower and 249 Nm of torque motor. Note that the new engine was designed and developed entirely by Abarth engineers, but without them getting any mention or a document on the machine.

A curious fact that unlike its rival which is related, ie MX-5, the Fiat site boasts 49 Nm of torque more, the version of the 2.0 liter from Mazda, a figure at all neglected for such a compact machine.

In the meantime, already Mazda MX-5 but Fiat's sale is expected to debut on the market only in the summer of 2016, this term being dictated by Japanese.
