The Radical Mazda MX-5 Speedster Is Going Into Production

An unofficial depiction of a speedster-styled first-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata was published in April 2020. This automobile was originally conceived as a design study, but tuning company Xenex has opted to produce it.

The rendering was created by Kasim Tlibekov, and Xenex claims they contacted him last year to license the concept and develop a functional model. Xenex claims that after spending a year on development, the molds for the body kit are done, and four units of the automobile are now being built.

The MX Speedster is the first of three available trim levels. It has competition Wilwood brakes, 17-inch wheels, a speedster body package, and a track-ready suspension system. It keeps the original drivetrain from the first-generation NA Miata but sheds 250 pounds of weight.

An optional Fastforward Superchargers forced induction system increases the MX Speedster S's output to over 200 horsepower, satisfying the appetites of those who like a little extra oomph. Then, there's the MX Speedster RS for all you speed demons out there. An LS V8 engine with over 350 horsepower at 6,800 rpm replaces the Mazda four-cylinder unit. The first Mazda MX-5 Speedster, according to the company, will be ready on March 1.
