This is it, the convertible version of Ferrari's 488GTB, the most powerful mid-engine V8 Ferrari with a retractable hard-top.

As you would expect, the topless version of the Ferrari 488 uses the same twin-turbo V8 engine which gets the Spider from zero to 100km/h in 3 seconds.

Ferrari says that the convertible hard-top is 25kg lighter than if it were a fabric roof and it takes 14 seconds for the top to operate both ways. The chassis of the 488 has the same rigidity of the fixed roof version as a result of the various aluminum alloys and magnesium elements and they combine to make it 23% stiffer than the earlier model.

The aerodynamics of the new 488 makes it the most efficient topless Ferrari ever. It has a pair of flying buttresses behind the driver which sends the air flowing toward the engine.

The new 488GTB is expected to make its entry into the market at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
