The Nissan Micra Is Back And It’s Fully Electric For The First Time

Nissan’s all-new Micra is back, but this time, it’s electric. Now entering its sixth generation, the popular city car is fully reimagined as an EV, sharing its platform and tech with the new Renault 5 E-Tech.

Designed at Nissan’s London-based design studio, the new Micra blends retro charm with futuristic details. It features round headlights and taillights with matching body-colored inserts—an unexpected nod to the 2011 Smart Forspeed Concept.

Despite its small footprint, the Micra leans into crossover territory with gloss black cladding around the bumpers, wheel arches, and side skirts. Every version sits on 18-inch wheels, giving it a more grounded, confident stance. Nissan also plays the customization card strong—offering 14 paint options, including two-tone combos with either a black or gray roof.

Inside, the cabin is heavily influenced by the Renault 5 but with Nissan’s own twist. You get twin 10.1-inch screens, a clean dash layout, and a few cool touches like a molded Mount Fuji silhouette between the front seats. The boot holds 326 liters, which should handle most daily errands with ease.

The Nissan Micra runs on the new AmpR Small platform (formerly CMF-BEV) and comes in two flavors. The entry-level version pairs a 121 hp electric motor with a 40 kWh battery, good for up to 308 km (191 miles) of range. The upgraded version bumps power to 148 hp and adds a 52 kWh battery, extending range to 254 miles on the WLTP cycle. The bigger battery also supports 100 kW DC fast charging—15 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.

You’ll also get handy extras like a heat pump, battery thermal management, and Vehicle-to-Load capability so you can run gadgets or gear directly off the car. Nissan claims it’s the “best in class” for ride and handling, crediting its low center of gravity, multi-link rear suspension, and tuned steering setup.

European deliveries are set to begin in late 2025. Expect it to sit slightly above its Renault sibling, which starts around €25,000.
