The New Mercedes-AMG GT4 Four-Door Concept Competing With Porsche Panamera

The Geneva Motor Show might meet not just Project One from Mercedes-AMG, but also a new concept, dubbed Mercedes-AMG GT4. This four-door concept is based on a remodeled MRA modular rear architecture of Mercedes-Benz, also used in AMG C63, E63 and S63.
The production version of this GT4 model is expected to arrive at the European dealers in 2018. It will compete with Porsche Panamera, Audi A7 and BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe. It is supposed to be offered in 4Matic+ and S 4Matic+ power outputs. The latter will probably have 603 hp, which is more than the latest AMG E63 S has.

The engine features a new integrated starter generator (ISG) that uses a 48V electrical system and a 20 HP electric engine mounted within the transmission. It might also receive a lithium-ion battery.
The concept has a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with twin-scroll turbochargers. There is a chance that the 4.0-liter V8 engine will not be the only one, but will be joined by a 3.0-liter inline-six unit with the same ISG. Even if they are different, both of them will use the newest dual-clutch automatic transmission.
