The New Caterham Seven 420 CUP Is A Street-Legal Machine

Caterham has introduced a new version of the Seven. The latest Seven 420 CUP has a set of Bilstein dampers that were inspired by the Seven race car. But despite this, it is still permitted to drive on the streets.

The revised face, additional Race Roll Cage with mirrors, carbon fiber portion substituting the windscreen, and fresh LED taillights all differentiate the new 420 CUP. Translucent satin decals and bespoke artwork give it a race car look.

Carbon fiber seats are standard on the 420 CUP's interior. The satin carbon treatment on the dash gives it a similar appearance to the 620R's. Moreover, Caterham now offers a wider range of seat, roll cage, and chassis configurations.

The motor is a Ford-sourced 2.0-liter Duratec four-cylinder that produces 207 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. The specs are the same as on the standard Seven 420. Meanwhile, power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a new six-speed sequential transmission from SADEV.

420 CUP

This means that the 420 CUP can sprint from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.6 seconds, or 0.2 seconds quicker than the 420 CUP. The vehicle can reach a max speed of 136 mph. Avon ZZR or ZZS tires are standard on the 420 CUP, with the ZZR Extreme available as an option.

Nevertheless, Bilstein and Caterham's 10-stage, fully-adjustable dampers is the most significant alteration to the 420 CUP. You can manually choose between ten levels of stiffness.

420 CUP

The Caterham Seven 420 CUP will only be offered in the United Kingdom and the United States because it does not meet EU emissions standards. In the UK, a finished car will set you back £54,990. Customers in the United States will need to contact their local shop for more details.
