It may come as a surprise that car designers also have the right to choose the most beautiful cars from all around the world. The award for the most successful automotive aesthetic design is awarded by a jury made of the best car designers in the world. This year, the most beautiful car award was given to French and Japanese models.
Car Design News took advantage of the moment when the greatest car designers gathered in the same place at the Geneva Motor Show and awarded the most successful series models and concepts launched last year.

Car Design News Awards are even more important than you think, mostly because of the high-level of the jury members. This year, the list of jurors included names like Mamoru Aoki (Design Director Nissan), Mitja Borket (Design Director Lamborghini), Helen Emsley (Design Director GMC), Ralph Gilles (Design Director Fiat-Chrysler) James Hope (Design Director Chery Motors), Stéphane Janin (Exterior Design Director Renault), Jozef Kaban (formerly Design Director Skoda, now at BMW), Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos (Design Director Seat), Thierry Métroz (Design Director Citroen), Andreas Nilsson (Exterior Design Director Volvo), Robin Page (Interior Design Director Volvo), Colin Phipps (Designer GM), Peter Schreyer (Head of Design Kia) and Gorden Wagener (Chief Designer Daimler).
Finally, after each of the jurors had voted, the two awards dedicated to the best design of a series car and the best design of a concept needed to be given to two of a Top 10 list of the most successful cars that had been launched in the last 12 months.
The winner in the model series category, with the maximum score, is Lexus LC coupe, which the Japanese brand presented at the Auto Show in Detroit in 2016. The Japanese have managed to defeat two cars with different profiles: Volvo V90 (second place) and Bugatti Chiron (third place).
The Most Beautiful Car Award for a concept design was given to the Renault Box concept, which managed to overcome Jaguar i-Pace (ranked second) and Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 (place third).
