The modular platform in the Renault-Nissan Group vision!

The first modulated platform - Common Module Family (CMF), of the Renault-Nissan group will be launched in the second half of 2013 and will underpin the new generation of the Rogue, Qashqai, and X-Trail crossovers. It is expected that in the distant future, by 2020, this technical support will be available to no less than 14 models, 11 from Renault and 3 from Nissan and that the annual production will increase up to 1.6 million vehicles. A reduction in the development costs by 30-40% is also envisaged. The production costs, due to the simplified logistics and better prices from the suppliers, should decrease by 20-30% as well.

The first Renault models developed on the CMF-based platform will be Espace, Scenic, and Laguna. Their debut will take place in 2014.

The CMF platform will be used even for the small class models, Micra and Clio, which will become global cars.

The use of the common CMF platform will involve the reorganization of the factories as well - namely, the integration of a new production organization concept: Alliance Integrated Manufacturing System (AIMS), which will focus on the production's flexibility - several models will be assembled simultaneously, and this will provide cost savings.
