Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG boasts with the title of the most powerful hot hatch segment, after in the version of facelift it was defeated to the rivals from Audi with a total of 375 horsepower (381 PS or 280 kW) and 475 Nm of torque. But the small pleasures end here as Tobias Moers, the head of Mercedes-AMG 2.0-liter said that the engine has reached the limit!

So for the next generation of the A-Class will get the AMG version, will need a new engine for its development and the Germans turned to the experts from Formula 1 team. Do not panic though, Mercedes will not retrieve the hybrid unit of 1.6 liter V6 present on the F1 Supercars, but you only borrow advanced technologies such as ERS and KERS systems. It is somewhat considered the option of a "downsize" but this has not yet been confirmed.

Speaking of technology, the head of AMG also said they are not sure if they will appeal to the e-turbo technology, as to supply them is requires more than a simple source 12V, which entails the installation of a more powerful battery and a fan beside them better. However, there were no substantial additions to horsepower, so the effort is not worth the investment.

However, experts argue that AMG tried to "squeeze" more from the turbo-aspirated unit of 2.0-liter, which equips the current A45 AMG but without great results, noting that it has reached the limit. Well, we're not talking about an absolute limit, as a company focused on the extreme performance tuning might find hidden reserves, but will be drastically reduced its life.

We know that the car manufacturers constantly are trying to achieve a compromise between performance, reliability, and a long time, and in this respect, the A45 has nowhere to increase.
