The Innovative Citroen Skate Is A Self-Contained Platform With Interchangeable Pods

As part of a revolutionary "open-source" model, Citron has developed a new platform concept called Skate, which it believes will pave the way for autonomous shared city mobility in the future. Level-five autonomous capabilities allow Citroen Skate platform to move around cities without the need for human input, and it can operate almost continuously 24 hours a day, 7 days a week while charging at designated hubs.

The Skate is built to accept interchangeable travel "pods" from a variety of manufacturers. Citroen claims that the changeover takes only 10 seconds.

As part of a new partnership dubbed "The Urban Collëctif," Accor and JCDecaux have shown early design concepts. Citroen claims that by taking this approach, it will be able to maximize the use of autonomous technology while broadening services.

Accor's Sofitel hotel chain inspired the sleek wooden areas, dedicated luggage compartment, bar, soft lighting, and touchscreen. A mobile gym with a rowing machine, a bike, and a holographic digital coach, the Pullman Power Fitness pod.

JCDecaux focuses on the "on-demand" aspect of mobility services with its City Provider pod. This functional pod is said to be available to all users and comes equipped with USB charging stations and interactive screens to improve mobility.

Citroen Skate concept follows the launch of the Ami two-seater in the UK, as part of the French brand's ongoing search for sustainable and affordable mobility solutions. “We believe that this new concept, which is shared, electric, and autonomous, can redefine the framework of urban mobility," according to Cobée. "With Accor and JCDecaux, we're creating self-driving mobility for everyone."
