The floods from Central Europe affected the car industry as well.

Porsche announced officially that its own factory from Leipzig has been partially closed because of the floods that influenced the South-Eastern Germany in the last week. The reason is that the suppliers of the subunits can no longer get to the factory that the manufactures Cayenne and Panamera models.

Nevertheless, the production will not be long term affected because the German manufacturer has a flexible production system which allows them to add later additional shifts that would recover the lost units.

The floods that interrupted the production of Porsche factory hit the Eastern Germany in the cities Dresden, Halle and Meissen, there being sent 5600 German soldiers to help the people. The floods were caused by the high flow of Vltava, Mulde, Saale and Elba rivers, all of this peaking with the rise of the Danube river level. The affected zones extended later to Bavaria and to the neighboring countries Austria and Czech Republic.
