The first Peugeot-Based Jeep Renegade Would Be Designed Under CMP Platform

Jeep is sharing the same Stellantis branded roof with Peugeot and intends to take full advantage and launch an entry-level car. Anonymous sources start rumors about an unnamed-model positioned directly below the Renegade, a baby Jeep that would share its underpinnings with the Fiat Panda 4x4.

There are also changes for previous models. For example, a soft-roader would be now designed around the Common Modular Platform used for the Peugeot 208 and the Citroen C4, and the Alfa Romeo Tonale concept. The CMP platform isn’t a random choice because it unlocks several benefits.

 Its newer architecture, it’s highly modular, and it was designed to match development with gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains. The Peugeot-based Jeep will have a standard front-wheel drive, with an optional four-wheel drive powertrain with a longitudinally-mounted engine for the front wheels, and an electric motor for the rear-wheels. There’s still an option available that the motor will be capable of power the crossover by itself.

Fiat would get a CMP -based car. Production for the Fiat 500 is scheduled to start in 2022, but it’s uncertain if the crossover will reach the U.S. market, since getting them abroad have bigger taxes. The Alfa Romeo Tonale concept is pegged under the Stelvio, a crossover originally developer on the Renegade’s skeleton.
