The Electric Honda N-Van e Has Burst Onto The Scene In Japan

Honda has finally unveiled the production version of the N-Van e, set to go on sale in Japan in the spring of 2024. This electric van features a redesigned grille housing the charging port and is made from recycled bumper plastic.

Inside, it adopts climate controls from the updated N-Box, maintaining an imposing look. Depending on the trim, it may include the Honda Connect system for remote access, the Honda Sensing ADAS suite, and even side curtain airbags.

Cargo capacity remains intact thanks to a thin, high-capacity battery pack mounted under the floor and a downsized electric axle. This configuration maintains a flat and low cabin floor, making it easy to access the interior with fold-flat seats and no B-pillar on the passenger side. While Honda hasn't disclosed the electric motor's specifications, they emphasize strong acceleration under heavy loads and reduced noise and vibration.

Servo-assisted brakes aid deceleration control, and the brake discs are larger compared to the petrol-powered model. The N-Van e aims for a WLTC range of over 130 miles between charges, with an ECON driving mode to reduce AC consumption.

Charging from a 6 kW outlet takes around 5 hours, and the battery can power electrical appliances with a 1,500W output using the Honda Power Supply Connector. Honda will present the N-Van e at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 in Tokyo. Pricing is expected to be announced closer to the market launch.
