The Dilemma Of The New Mercedes-Benz E-Class: A Bigger C-Class Or A Smaller S-Class?

The year 2016 started well for fans of Mercedes-Benz. That's because the Germans could not help it too much and in the end, were "out" in the press a few sharp images with the new generation of E-Class.

As you know its formal presentation, to be held later in the Auto Show in Detroit, but now we have the most important information and pictures of the German premiere. So, I invite you to find out what brings us the new premium sedan from Stuttgart.

Until we disclose the official information released in the auto press from Germany, via the website auto-presse.de, I will grant a little with the design, which to me is a little old. Personally, I was expecting a somewhat revolutionary design more angular, sportier, something that would compete with the BMW 5 Series which will appear here to turn the world stage.

I was accustomed to the fact that every generation C-Class launched, was a miniature copy of the S-Class, but it was always unaided. What I see now, frankly, disappoints me. I do not deny that the new E-Class has its charm, is well proportioned and has a very elegant design and besides all this coming and equipped with the latest technologies.

But the first impression that is capable E-Class is associated more with "Deja Vu", but with the desire to discover something absolutely new and unique, and this image is created by the striking similarity with the C-Class and S -Class. I'm not sure I know how it would be fair to call the novice, a C-Class variant PLUS, addressed businessmen with claims, or an S-Class facelift for a group of less wealthy clients?

And here the definition of luxury is not just the chairs, similar to the S-Class's, or the interior copied entirely, but at top facilities, which include headlights MultiBeam, which is a unique association consisting of 84 LEDs. Also on the list of wonders can be passed, the wireless battery charger specifically designed for smartphones, smart key systems, or the health insurer as DISTRONIC Plus.

And on the power train, know that the E-Class will start his career in the basic version E220D, using the services of a diesel power plant, with a volume of 2.0 liters and a total power of 192 hp. This will be followed by a gas station with a cylinder capacity equal technical performance of which is still kept in secret. We only know that the same power plant will debut in a tandem with an electric engine, the E350 variant, which will provide a reserve of 275 hp.

The gas station range will include units capable of delivering between 183 and 333 horsepower, and the top variant is reserved for the AMG model, which promises around 600 horsepower squeezed out of a V8 4.0-liter turbo-aspirated. Regardless of the selection, Mercedes has chosen to equip all new versions with automatic transmission of 9G-Tronic speeds.
