Kia has just pulled the wraps off the updated K5 sedan in South Korea, and it's come with a slew of visual and tech improvements. The K5, which stepped in for the Optima, wowed fans with its design in 2019, so Kia's design team opted for subtle changes on the outside.

They've given the headlights and taillights a modern touch with updated LED graphics, somewhat akin to the Kia EV6 GT-Line. The front end now sports intakes reminiscent of the EV6 GT-Line, and there's a more prominent ducktail spoiler at the rear, as well as new options for alloy wheels and two fresh exterior colors: Wolf Gray and Moonscape Matte Grey.

Inside, the 2025 Kia K5 flaunts a panoramic display housing dual 12.3-inch screens. The new infotainment system supports over-the-air updates, remote control through a smartphone app, a fingerprint authentication system, and streaming music services. These tunes can be enjoyed through the optional 12-speaker KRELL sound system. Reworked A/C controls, a wireless charging pad, and a more compact gear selector are also included.

If you're all about personalization, you can now choose from three new interior colors: Sand, Martian Brown, and classic black. And for those who prefer a darker, more edgy look, there's the "Black Fit" optional package, which adds black 18-inch or 19-inch wheels, a black suede headliner, and a dark finish for the mirror caps, rear diffuser, and tailpipes.

Under the hood, Kia tweaked the suspension setup for a smoother ride and improved sound insulation. Powertrain options for the Korean version include a naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter MPi with 158 hp, a turbocharged 1.6-liter T-GDi with 178 hp, a 2.0-liter LPi with 144 hp, and a more efficient hybrid delivering a combined 192 hp.

The facelifted 2025 Kia K5 is currently open for pre-orders in Korea, with prices ranging from ₩27.84 to 39.54 million ($20,503-29,117) depending on the chosen powertrain and trim. It's likely these updates will make their way to the North American version for the 2025 model year.
