Tesla Model Y L Leaks With Third Row And Extended Wheelbase
by AutoExpert | 17 July, 2025
Say hello to the Tesla Model Y L—a stretched, roomier version of the popular electric SUV that’s been tailor-made for the Chinese market. The first unofficial images just dropped, thanks to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, giving us a pretty good look at what’s coming.
Compared to the regular Model Y, the L version is noticeably bigger. It’s 186 mm longer, has a wheelbase stretched by 150 mm, and stands 44 mm taller. That extra space means one very clear upgrade: a third row of seats. With six seats in total, the Model Y L is shaping up to be a more family-friendly option for those who want extra room without jumping all the way to a Model X.

Power won’t be an issue either. Tesla has given this version a dual-motor setup that pumps out a combined 456 horsepower, so it still delivers the kind of punch you’d expect from the brand. There’s no official word on driving range yet, but it’s safe to say Tesla will try to keep it competitive.
The Tesla Model Y L is expected to launch this fall in China, and for now, that’s the only place it’ll be sold. No plans for a global release have been announced, so if you’re outside China and hoping to see it in your local showroom, don’t hold your breath.
