Mercedes-Benz has begun selling the AMG GT 63 S E Performance in Europe and introduced the AMG Special Edition as the car's top-of-the-line option. The vehicle was revealed at the Munich Motor Show last year and is Mercedes' most costly production vehicle to date, excluding the AMG Project One. Prices in Europe begin at €196,897 (about $221,000) and rise to €218,674 (about $245,000) for the AMG Special Edition.

The Green Hell Magno color contrasts with the 21-inch AMG forged wheels with black treatment, distinguishing the Special Edition from the basic model. Rubellite Red with high-gloss chrome exterior details and 21-inch AMG forged wheels with a high-sheen silver coating are also available on the Special Edition variant.

A 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 powers the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance, which is connected to an electric engine at the back axle. This engine is paired with a two-speed gearbox that shifts electrically and a limited-slip differential that is regulated electronically. The V8 and the electric motor work together to produce 831 hp and 1,023 lb-ft (1,400 Nm) of torque.

Mercedes claims that the super sedan can touch 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 2.9 seconds and can accelerate to 196 mph (316 km/h). On the combined cycle, it returns 27 mpg (8.6 l/100 km). The 6.1 kWh battery pack also gives the GT 63 S E Performance an all-electric range of 7.4 miles (12 km).

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance also comes with several high-performance features as standard. The AMG Ride Control+ multi-chamber air suspension with electronically adjustable damping and carbon-ceramic brakes with 420 mm front discs and six-piston calipers and 380 mm rear discs with single-piston calipers are among these characteristics.
