Superformance And Everrati Have Teamed Up To Create An All-Electric GT40

Everrati of the United Kingdom and Superformance of the United States have teamed up to create all-electric continuation versions of the classic GT40 race car. The powertrain will be designed by Everrati, which has previously worked on electric overhauls for the Porsche 911 (964), Mercedes-Benz SL Pagoda, and Land Rover Series IIA. Superformance will provide the body.

Superformance's licensed clones may bring up visions of America taking on Italy's best at Le Mans, but that was also a trans-Atlantic endeavor. The original's body was created in Coventry. Although the roles are reversed, the duo is as ancient as the concept of defeating Enzo Ferrari.

"The Everrati and Superformance relationship will enable enthusiasts to drive an electric-powered GT40, with the creation of the first model ongoing," the two companies stated in a joint statement. "A prototype chassis has been developed at Everrati's UK development center in Upper Heyford, a former US airbase in the English Cotswolds, and is being extensively modified from ICE power to advanced electric propulsion."

Neither company gave any information on the GT40's prospective powertrain or final performance, but Superformance has always left such decisions up to the client, allowing them to pick between existing vintage and current powertrains for its licensed clones.

The electric GT40 will most certainly have fewer options, but we suspect it will be a one-size-fits-all setup.
