Special Polestar 5 Electric GT Showcased As The 2024 Launch Draws Closer

New Polestar 5 grand tourer has been shown off in a behind-the-scenes video featuring how the distinctive Precept concept has progressed into its final production model.

In preparation for a 2024 production car debut, Polestar's UK R&D center became a development base for the Precept road vehicle. The design process is still in work, but it's evident that the final car will have a steeper roofline, actual door handles, more quietly incorporated side skirts, and a softly altered rear end.

Last year, the 5 was approved for manufacturing after being carefully teased by the Precept, a one-off intended to show Volvo's sibling brand's aspirations. It included many novel materials with sustainability as a central focus, such as flax-based composites, which can reduce weight by up to 50% while also reducing plastic weight by up to 80%. Recycled PET bottles, repurposed fishing nets, and recycled cork vinyl are also used in the Precept's inside.

Polestar's UK team is concentrating on the Precept's advancement, digging into difficult engineering issues as the Swedish company attempts to scale up and mass-produce the numerous eco-friendly materials used for the EV.
