Subaru Just Built a Bright Yellow Manual WRX for a Big Milestone

Subaru has quietly passed an interesting milestone in Australia, delivering its 60,000th Subaru WRX in the country. Rather than letting that moment pass unnoticed, the company chose to celebrate it with a limited-run special edition of the WRX AWD Club Spec Evo. Only 75 will be built, and each one sticks with a six-speed manual and a bright yellow paint job that immediately stands out.
The special edition starts with the range-topping Subaru WRX AWD tS Spec B introduced last year. Australia has seen Club Spec versions before, but this one feels a little more nostalgic. The tall rear wing is the clearest signal, echoing the look of the older STI models that made the WRX famous in rally circles.

The paint is called Sunrise Yellow, a shade that has appeared on models like the Subaru BRZ tS Kiiro. On the WRX, it works well with the matte-black 19-inch wheels and gold Brembo brake calipers behind them. There are also simple black-and-white decals on the rear doors, though the color alone makes the car hard to miss.

Inside, the theme continues more subtly. Recaro bucket seats trimmed in Ultrasuede and leather-style upholstery feature yellow stitching and perforated inserts. A small Club Spec Evo badge and a numbered plaque remind owners that this is one of just 75 cars.

Mechanically, Subaru left things alone. The car keeps the STI-tuned adaptive dampers, Brembo brakes, and quad exhaust system from the tS Spec B. Power still comes from the familiar turbocharged 2.4-liter boxer engine producing 271 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed manual and Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

Pricing in Australia starts at about AU$63,190, or roughly $45,100. That is only a small step above the tS Spec B it is based on, though it does make the Club Spec Evo the most expensive WRX sedan currently offered there. For Australian fans, this bright yellow edition feels like a fitting way to mark how long the WRX has been part of the country’s car culture.
