Spotted: The Brand-New 2024 MG 3 To Arrive Soon

In anticipation of its upcoming unveiling, we're getting a glimpse of the new MG 3's design. This second-generation supermini draws inspiration from the larger MG 4 and the flagship MG Cyberster sports car, showcasing a promising and modern look.

The new 2024 MG 3 is sticking with petrol power, bucking the trend of going all-electric in the supermini segment. This decision keeps it true to its affordable roots, ensuring it remains budget-friendly.

Recent spy shots of a camouflaged prototype hinted that it's in the final stages of testing and inching closer to being production-ready.

The new MG 3 is also expected to incorporate mild-hybrid technology to reduce emissions, along with updates to its interior and driver-assist technology. Despite these enhancements, it's likely to remain one of the most budget-friendly options on the market. While the addition of hybrid technology might nudge the price up a bit, it should still stay under £20,000. 

Developing a small electric car doesn't come at a significantly lower price than a larger one, and a substantial portion of the cost is attributed to the battery. Going all-electric could potentially price it out of the affordable range, which MG aims to avoid.

The current MG 3, which made its debut in China in 2011 and arrived in the UK in 2013, is the oldest model in MG's lineup. Despite some price increases over the years, it continues to offer one of the most budget-friendly options in the UK, with prices starting at £13,565. The new 2024 MG 3 looks set to build on this legacy, offering a fresh design and updated tech while keeping affordability in mind.
