Spark EUV Revives Chevy’s Charm With A Quirky Electric Twist For Brazil

Chevrolet’s got a clever trick up its sleeve with the Spark EUV, a rebadged version of China’s Baojun Yep Plus that’s making its way to Brazil. It’s part of a celebration for Chevy’s 100th anniversary down there, and it’s clear they’re aiming for something fun and affordable to shake up the market.

In essence, they have simply affixed a Chevy badge to the Baojun Yep Plus and declared it complete. Don’t get too attached to the Spark name, though—this isn’t the same model as the old Spark EV that was around in the U.S. a few years back. This one’s a new breed.

GM’s keeping the full details on the Spark EUV under wraps for now, but they’ve made it clear that this is just one piece of their bigger plan to drop 10 new models in Brazil by 2025. The Spark EUV’s one of the big ones, so it’s got some serious potential.

At just under 4 meters long, this little guy is about to be the smallest thing in Chevrolet’s lineup. The Baojun Yep Plus already comes in some wild versions, like a three-door and even a pickup, but whether Brazil gets those options is still up in the air.

Under the hood, expect it to run with the same setup as the Yep Plus, which packs a 101 hp electric motor and a 41.9 kWh battery. That should give it around 249 miles of range on the Chinese testing cycle, so not too shabby for a city car.

Inside, it’s all about tech, with dual 10.2-inch screens and some slick driver-assist features made by DJI (yeah, the drone company). There’s more room inside than you'd expect from a car this size, making it a solid pick for people who want something that’s small but still usable.

It’s also cheap. While the price for Brazil’s is still under wraps, the Baojun Yep Plus in China starts at just ¥93,800 (about $12,900).

Along with the Spark EUV, Chevy dropped a 100th Anniversary Special Series for the Onix, Tracker, and S10. So yeah, it looks like Chevrolet’s got a lot going on in Brazil.
