Smart has just unveiled its latest #5 crossover, which boasts a distinctive design featuring "oblong headlights" connected by a narrow lit strip and a series of oval-shaped lights. Early next year, European roads will welcome this new model.

The innovative design includes sleek bodywork and plastic body cladding, a swooping greenhouse, aerodynamically refined wheels, flush-mounted door handles, and Smart-branded D-pillars.

For those seeking a more rugged option, the Summit Edition offers a roof-mounted light bar, side steps, and a ladder to access a roof carrier. It also includes underbody protection, an electronic trailer hitch, and an exterior storage compartment reminiscent of the Land Rover Defender. Inside, the crossover impresses with a 21-speaker Sennheiser sound system, 256-color ambient lighting, oak wood trim, and zero-gravity front seats that recline up to 121 degrees.

The tech highlights are a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster and dual 13-inch screens. The central screen serves as an entertainment hub and features a lion-themed AI voice assistant named Leo. There’s also an augmented reality head-up display measuring 25.6 inches. Rear passengers won’t feel left out either. They get heated seats, adjustable backrests, an electric sunshield, airplane-style LED reading lights, and a comfort mode that moves the front seats forward for extra legroom.

The cabin seats can be folded to create a king-size, queen-size, or single bed. The large cargo area can hold up to 54 cubic feet of luggage. Smart has not yet revealed specific engine details, but the crossover will feature a 100 kWh battery pack, providing a range of over 460 miles (740 km) on the CLTC cycle. It includes 800V technology and a super-charging feature that can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes.

Despite Smart's silence on the specifics, Chinese government sources have confirmed that the vehicle will offer rear-mounted powertrains producing either 335 horsepower or 358 horsepower. There will also be an all-wheel-drive option with two motors, providing up to 416 horsepower.
