Shaken, Not Stirred: Aston Martin’s DB12 Goldfinger Edition Marks 60 Years Of Bond Legacy

While James Bond may be synonymous with Aston Martin these days, his first car in the franchise was actually a modest Sunbeam Alpine in Dr. No (1962). A year later, in "From Russia with Love," Sean Connery's Bond drove a Bentley Mark IV. But the real game-changer came in 1964 with the DB5 in Goldfinger, setting the stage for the classic Aston Martin-Bond association.

Now Aston Martin is celebrating with a special DB12 Goldfinger Edition to mark the milestone. Aston Martin's Q division, renowned for producing highly bespoke cars, has meticulously crafted this limited edition. The films directly inspire Q, symbolizing the research and development branch of MI6 in the Bond universe.

In the real world, Q is responsible for tailoring Aston Martins to an elite standard, and this DB12 Goldfinger Edition is no exception. The car is filled with luxurious details, including 18k gold-plated accents on the center console. The rotary drive mode selector and gear shifter, as well as the controls for the temperature, fan, and volume, gleam with precious metal.

The gear selector itself has been redesigned to resemble the golden tracking devices used by Agent 007. The cabin's carbon fiber elements weave metallic gold fibers, further elevating the theme. The Eight of Hearts logo on the driver's sunvisor, a nod to the playing card in the Miami pool scene from Goldfinger, is a subtle yet charming detail. The interior features leather-wrapped seats with a fluted design reminiscent of the DB5, while the Prince of Wales check perforation pattern mirrors James Bond's iconic suit.

This sophisticated touch extends to the headliner and door panels, seamlessly blending luxury with nostalgia. On the outside, while there are no Bond-style gadgets, the DB12 Goldfinger Edition is painted in the same Silver Birch as the original DB5 from Goldfinger. It also features 21-inch silver multi-spoke wheels, black brake calipers, and exclusive gold side strakes. The classic Aston Martin badge is silver with black enamel, and a “Q” badge on the side signifies its special status.

There will only be 60 units of this exclusive Aston Martin DB12 Goldfinger, one for each year since the premiere of Goldfinger. An array of extras awaits buyers, including a custom car cover, a key box, and a Silver Birch Speedform model. The most exciting perk? The package includes a 35mm film clip from the Goldfinger Furka Pass scene, a champagne bottle with a unique number, four opulent glasses, and a limited-edition Aston Martin magazine.
