In a statement, Markus Schäfer, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz, revealed the Vision EQXX concept car will make its public debut on 3 January. Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX has been teased as a revolutionary and radically sleek design study that could provide major hints as to what to anticipate from future production models.

It has been characterized as "a symbol of our ambition to create the most efficient car." Mercedes has revealed that it is aiming for a range of more than 620 miles and a consumption rate of more than 6 miles per kWh in real-world conditions. The carmaker had previously claimed that the EQXX, a compact-class electric vehicle, would have the greatest electric range and best efficiency of any EV ever made.

The prototype's big promise at a business event last year was that it would be capable of going 750 miles from Beijing to Shanghai on a single battery charge. Mercedes is quick to point out that the increased range was not accomplished just by using a bigger battery pack, and that the EQXX's unit would be used in a future compact version.

Mercedes-Benz has made a slew of headline-grabbing announcements about its rapid electric-vehicle transition. Starting in 2022, every segment will have a fully electric vehicle, and by 2025, every model released will have a pure-electric variant.

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes will also introduce three new EV architectures in 2025, which will be used across the company's full product line: AMG.EA for performance models, MB.EA for mid-sized and large passenger automobiles, and Van.EA for commercial vehicles.

The intention to establish 8 new battery factories throughout the world, 4 of which will be in Europe, was one of the highlights, as did the revelation that investments in combustion engines will drop by 80% by 2026 compared to 2019.
