Rumors Say That Mercedes Might Be Planning a 1,000 HP SLR

Just a few days ago, officials from Mercedes confirmed they are not building a rival for the LaFerrari, P1, and 918 Spyder but mentioned that there might be something in the works that will challenge the McLaren 650S and Ferrari 488. Well, the German publication AutoBuild reports that Mercedes is planning to build a new SLR.
According to them, the carmaker is at the stage where they are debating the position of the engine, rear, front, or middle. AutoBuild says the SLR will be powered by a V6 supercharged creating around 650 hp that sends them to the RWD and has an electric motor to power the front wheels. They say that Mercedes will build around 3,000 units per year and each will be priced around $260k.

Reportedly it looks like Mercedes is also planning a mid-engine car that is powered by a supercharged V8 engine with 1,000 hp. They are looking to build only 750 units at a cost of over $1.1 Million.

Some say that the V6 version with 650 hp is the closest to the actual truth. We'll just have to wait for an official statement.
