The Porsche Panamera may have seemed to slip under the radar, overshadowed by its electric sibling, the Taycan, with its captivating looks, luxurious interior, and cutting-edge technology. However, Porsche is ready to shuffle the deck for 2024, announcing an eagerly anticipated reveal of a reimagined Panamera on November 24th.

To whet our appetites, Porsche has unveiled a preview of the car's upgraded features, notably integrating key elements from its electric variant.

Upon initial viewing, the Panamera's updates are subtle, yet a detailed examination reveals a significant digital transformation. The driver's console now boasts a 12.6-inch fully digital display, shedding the traditional hood for an unobstructed view. The shift lever has been replaced with a minimalist toggle, while the new infotainment system introduces Porsche’s "Driver Experience" interface, ingeniously clustering functions for ease of use and less distraction.

Passengers are invited to engage with their own dedicated screen, set squarely in the dashboard, enabling on-the-go streaming and social media interaction.

Yet, amidst the innovation, the Panamera's soul remains intact. The beloved analog Sport Chrono clock still holds its place, the central console maintains its ascent from the armrest, and the infotainment system is seamlessly integrated into a familiar dashboard layout.

Functionality meets finesse with electronically adjustable, finless air vents, and the removal of the console gear shifter has opened up additional storage space. The improved seat materials across all models and ambient lighting throughout the dashboard elevate the cabin's comfort and luxury.

September's announcement from Porsche hinted at fewer than four PHEV options for the new Panamera, recognizing the growing demand for plug-in hybrids—a market so robust that in certain regions, they constitute the entirety of Panamera sales. In sync with the recently upgraded Cayenne, the PHEV models will feature an enlarged 25.9 kWh battery, promising an extended electric range.

Yet, some may lament the passing of tradition, as reports from Autocar indicate that the Panamera’s simulated ignition key starter has been retired in favor of a simpler push-button—a nod to the inevitable march of progress.
