Meet The 311-Mile Range Renault Master Van H2-TECH From HYVIA

When the Renault Group announced in July that it would provide a variety of hydrogen fuel cell-powered light commercial cars through its HYVIA business, they didn't show us a working prototype until recently. With zero CO2 emissions and a 500-km (311-mile) range, the Renault Master Van H2-TECH will go on sale in 2022.

The prototype is built on a Renault Master van with the hydrogen/electric drivetrain replacing the diesel engine. A 30 kW fuel cell, a 33 kWh battery, an electric engine, and four tanks with up to 6 kg (13.2 lbs) of hydrogen make up this system.

A hefty 12 cubic meters of cargo room is included even with the van's huge size (423.8 cubic feet). Also, HYVIA will release a Master Chassis Cab H2-TECH version with up to 19 cubic meters (671 cubic feet) of cargo space, but only a 250 km (155 mile) driving range will be offered. With a 300-km range and the ability to carry up to 15 passengers, the Master Citybus will be the next.

The business will also sell, rent, or lease hydrogen refueling stations. They will allow for a 5-minute refilling period, which is similar to that of gas or diesel-powered cars. Finally, HYVIA works on green hydrogen generation and delivery, allowing its vehicles to be even more environmentally beneficial.

All of HYVIA's goods will be made in France, with vehicles being made in Batilly, hydro integration being done by PVI in Gretz-Armainvilliers, electric engines being made in Cleon, fuel cell assembly taking place in Flins, and hydrogen tanks being provided by the French company Faurecia.
