Rebel without a cause: Yamaha has presented a robot that can drive a motorcycle!

Yamaha introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show a robot able to pilot a motorcycle without further modification. They called it Motobot, but do not expect it to replace Valentino Rossi too soon.
Yamaha managed to surprise the audience at the Tokyo Motor Show with the first robot able to fly a standard motorcycle. The Japanese say that Motobot, their humanoid robot, is able to pilot a modern motorcycle without modifying anything in it.
The whole project is part of an effort on behalf of the department of research and development of the Japanese company aiming to produce a robot that could go on the competitive circuit. Given the early stage of the project, we can say that Valentino Rossi should not relax at all and that his duels with Marquez and Lorenzo will have at least a few more rounds until the emergence of the robots in MotoGP.
Most likely, Yamaha has developed the humanoid robot in order to test its future driver assistance technologies and road safety in order to build motorcycles with even higher performance for its customers. Using robots for testing and development of new products is an idea successfully applied in the automotive world, but the engineers and pilots are still used to evaluate and adjust the cars before approving their entry into production.
The advantage of the robot is repetitive testing of specific commands with an inimitable precision level without getting tired or hesitant at one moment.
