Land Rover Is Selling Two Range Rovers Together, and You Can't Buy Just One

Buying a new flagship Range Rover usually means leaving the dealership with one SUV. Land Rover has a different idea. At this year's Monterey Car Week, the company is offering its latest Range Rover SV Ultra together with a fully restored 1993 Range Rover Classic, creating a two-generation collection that can't be split.

The centerpiece of the project is the older SUV. Starting with a U.S.-spec 1993 County Edition, Land Rover Classic spent more than 2,000 hours restoring and reimagining it to reflect the design and craftsmanship of the modern SV Ultra, while carefully preserving its original character.

To tie the two together, both models wear Titan Silver paint and share several design details. The Classic gains diamond-turned 16-inch wheels finished in Satin Platinum, updated front badging, and cleaner bodywork after the removal of its original side moldings. The result is a familiar Range Rover silhouette with a more contemporary finish.

Step inside and the connection becomes even stronger. The Classic borrows the SV Ultra's Orchid White and Cinder Grey color scheme, along with Ultrafabrics upholstery, matching seat perforations, and the same laser-etched seat pattern. Despite retaining its original dashboard and layout, the cabin feels much closer to a modern luxury SUV than a vehicle built in the early 1990s.

The restoration wasn't limited to appearances. Land Rover rebuilt the original 3.9-liter V8, refreshed the four-speed automatic transmission, and overhauled the suspension and braking system. Rather than replacing classic mechanicals with modern components, the goal was to return every major system to its best possible condition.

The collection will debut at Monterey Car Week before crossing the RM Sotheby's auction block on August 14. Land Rover hasn't attached an estimated value, but considering one vehicle is a bespoke SV Ultra and the other required thousands of hours of factory restoration, this is expected to be one of the auction's most exclusive offerings.
