Ram 1500 TRX Returns With V8 Power, Production Begins 2026
by AutoExpert | 6 August, 2025
The Ram 1500 TRX is officially making a comeback, and the V8 is coming with it. Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa confirmed the return during the brand’s latest earnings call, explaining that growing the company’s North American presence is now a top priority.
Part of that plan? Rolling out new products that actually reflect what buyers want. And for muscle truck fans, that clearly includes the Ram 1500 TRX with a V8 under the hood.

While Filosa didn’t dive into engine specs, chances are the next-gen TRX will stick with the tried-and-true supercharged 6.2-liter V8. That setup previously delivered 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, but we can expect a little extra punch. Ford’s latest version is packing over 720 hp, so the bar’s been raised. Production for the new Ram 1500 TRX is rumored to begin in early 2026, following the updated 1500 lineup.

Filosa hinted that other iconic powertrains are coming back too, including the legendary Hemi V8. It's a strong sign that Stellantis is leaning into performance once again, not just electrification. Interestingly, Filosa also mentioned that recent regulatory changes under the Trump administration have given the company more freedom to balance EVs with internal combustion vehicles. According to him, this will mean better alignment with customer demand and a boost in profitability.

Filosa called the 2026 Jeep Cherokee a big improvement over the outgoing model and said the new Charger Sixpack plays a key role in reconnecting Dodge with its core fanbase.
