Porsche's CFO Believes The EU Could Delay Its Ban On Internal Combustion Engines

German automaker Porsche's CFO hinted that the EU would delay its prohibition on sales of cars with internal combustion engines in conjunction with the new electric Macan's launch.
The chief financial officer of Porsche, Lutz Meschke, thinks that the combustion engine phase-out in 2035 might be pushed back. A decrease in orders for electric automobiles has prompted questions, and this decision comes at the same time.
For instance, the United Kingdom has already extended the deadline for the sale of automobiles powered by internal combustion engines until the year 2035.
To put this in perspective, you may remember that Germany asked Brussels to also protect automobiles powered by synthetic fuels last year, just weeks before the European Union unveiled a plan to gradually phase out new vehicles with internal combustion engines. Germany thus declined to accept the move.
Porsche is now part of the club when it comes to cars that use synthetic fuels. Consequently, the German automaker has put $260 million into a startup that plans to develop a synthetic fuel facility in Chile in 2022.
