Peugeot E-5008 Is The Ultimate Family SUV With Seven Seats And Electrifying Performance

For those for whom convenience is paramount while shopping for a vehicle, this can be excellent news. Seven seats are currently standard on the Peugeot E-5008. The E-3008 can accommodate the third row of seats with an upright rear window and a wheelbase increase from 107.9 inches (2.74 m) to 114.2 inches (2.9 m).

However, even with that additional length, the maximum amount of baggage capacity with all three rows in place is still 259 liters (9.2 cu. ft). When the back seats are folded down, the cargo space expands to 748 liters (26.4 cu. ft.), which is significantly more than the E-3008's 520 liters (18.4 cu. ft.).

There isn't much to differentiate the two most recent SUVs from Peugeot if you take out the seats and the boxier design. A 211 horsepower single-motor, front-wheel drive model is available at the entry level of the E-5008 series, similar to the E-3008, and gets 311 miles (500 km) of range with a 73 kWh battery. A long-range variant is also available for those who really dislike charging stations.

With the same 254 lb-ft of torque as the standard model, but a larger 98 kWh battery and slightly greater power (228 horsepower), it can cruise for 410 miles (660 km). This is in comparison to the lighter, five-seat E-3008, which uses the identical battery and motor combo but achieves significantly lower ranges of 326 miles (525 km) and 435 miles (700 km).

The Electric 320, with its 316 horsepower and an additional 107 horsepower motor mounted to the back axle, is unrivaled on the E-5008 hill. Unfortunately, the added weight reduces the 98 kWh battery's range to 311 miles, the same as the entry-level car.

Using 400 volts of electricity and an unimpressive 160 kW DC charging speed, all three can increase their range by 62 miles (100 km) in 10 minutes or charge their batteries from 20 to 80 percent in 30 minutes. For most owners who plan to charge at home, an 11 kW onboard charger comes standard. However, you have the option to purchase a 22 kW charger for faster fills.

Starting at launch, the 5008 may be yours with the same 48-volt mild hybrid 1.2-liter triple that powers the 3008—134 horsepower. The 5008 Hybrid 136 e-DCS6 claims to reduce fuel consumption by 15% compared to an equal (hypothetical) non-hybrid 5008.

While driving at modest speeds in urban areas, Peugeot claims the mild-hybrid can run on electric power alone for up to half of the time. The 195 e-DCS7 PHEV won't be available to buyers until 2025, so they'll have to be patient if they want more EV miles without actually buying an EV. That combines an electric motor with a combustion engine to produce 148 horsepower, allowing it to go 49 miles (79 km) in emissions-free mode.

With the exception of those additional seats, the E-5008's interior is identical to that of its smaller stablemate. The two available trim levels, Allure and GT, include ambient lighting, a wireless phone charger, keyless entry, LED headlights, and Peugeot's 21-inch panoramic i-Cockpit display. Meanwhile, the GT trim level comes with a black roof, 20-inch wheels, heated and electrically adjustable Alcantara seats, adaptive cruise control, and two-tone paint.

In light of the fact that the mild-hybrid 3008 Allure starts at £34,650 in the UK ($44,400) and the electric version of the same car is around £11,000 ($14,000) more, the base ICE 5008 could cost just under £40,000 ($51,000), and the entry-level EV will cost around £50,000 ($64,000). However, Peugeot will reveal the exact prices closer to the September on-sale date.
