The world's first serial flying car is now available to be bought in the Netherlands. The model is called PAL-V Liberty and its price starts from 499.000 Euros. It will be released in 90 units and the first of them will reach the market by 2018.
PAL-V Liberty is equipped with two engines: one is for driving on public roads and the other - for flying. The process of turning the car into an aircraft takes between five to ten minutes. The mast with a propeller is set automatically, but the driver has to put forward its own tail and a blade main rotor.
To take off, the vehicle will need a platform measuring 200 by 200 meters. The 200 hp PAL-V Liberty can reach the maximum height of 3,500 meters and the top speed of 180 kph. Without refueling the novelty, it cannot fly more than 500 km.
On the ground, Liberty PAL-V is driven using an engine delivering 100 hp. The maximum speed is around 160 km/h and it reaches 100 kph in 9 seconds.
