To commemorate the 55th anniversary of AMG's birth this year, the Affalterbach tuner debuted a far more aggressive GT Track Series on Wednesday. There's a good chance the existing GT model will be phased out, as a revised variant has already been sighted.

The GT Track Series was created specifically for track use, as the name implies. It looks like AMG's GT3 and GT4 race cars, but it has greater power.

The 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 in the automobile is set to produce 724 horsepower, which is four hp more than the GT Black Series. Race-spec fuel injectors and a few other changes account for the increased boost. The engine is connected to a 6-speed sequential gearbox rather than the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic found in the road vehicle, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a carbon-fiber torque tube and flexible differential.

The addition of four-way Bilstein dampers at each wheel is another significant modification for the GT Track Series. There are high- and low-speed options in the rebound and compression settings, as well as the ability to modify the ride height. Steel brake rotors spanning 15.35 inches in front and 14 inches in the back are included, and so are the 18-inch forged wheels. For altering the brake distribution, a brake beam has been added.

Both the exterior and the interior are made of carbon fiber to increase stiffness while saving weight. This results in a curb weight of 3,086 lbs, as opposed to the road car's 3,500 lbs.

The GT Track Series will be available worldwide, with just 55 units produced. The first models will be delivered in the second quarter, with prices starting at 369,000 euros (roughly $404,680).
