Old automobiles can be imported into the United States with the arrival of the new year. Donut Media has compiled a list of ten interesting old cars that were released in 1997 and are sure to delight automotive aficionados. The following are among the cars on the list:

  • EK9 Honda Civic Type R
  • Ford Falcon XH XR8 Ute
  • Honda NSX Type S
  • LT1 TX1 London Black Cab
  • Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R
  • Mitsubishi Pajero Evo
  • Nissan Elgrand
  • R33 Nissan Skyline Nismo 400R
  • Toyota Century V12
  • Volkswagen Mk4 Golf VR5

Some of these vehicles were previously available for import, but if you're tired of driving something that's been on the market for a while, try one of the special edition models available for each of them.

In 1997, the Mitsubishi FTO, for example, received a makeover that improved its appearance. Not only that, but the company also selected that year to release the GP Version R model. It came with HID headlights, an upgraded suspension, a limited-slip diff, and a mad spoiler and was available in white, red, or black.

A further special edition that was never released in the United States is the R33 Nissan Skyline GT-R NISMO 400R. It possessed a motor that had been intended for use at Le Mans and produced 400 horsepower (405 PS/298 kW), as well as many other significant modifications. Importing these vehicles isn't going to be simple, but if you've always wanted an automobile that is unlike anything else on the road, now is your opportunity.
