Now For Sale: A Rare, One-Of-A-Kind, 1,000-Horsepower Lotec C1000 Supercar

The rare and unique Lotec C1000 from the 1990s is on the market and seeking a new owner. Briefly, an oil mogul in the United Arab Emirates got in touch with Lotec (then known for constructing Group 6 and Group C racing cars) and asked them to create the Lotec C1000.

He commissioned Lotec to make him the fastest vehicle in the world, and the company delivered with the C1000. The C1000 is supported by a carbon fiber chassis, and its 1,080 kg curb weight is achieved in large part by the use of carbon fiber for the body panels (2,381 lbs).

The Mercedes-Benz 5.6-liter V8 was obtained by Lotec, but it was equipped with twin Garrett turbochargers. The vehicle's 1,000 horsepower was sent to the rear axle using a Hewland five-speed racing gearbox. After four years of planning and construction at a cost of $3.4 million, the C1000 was shown to the public in 1995 with a stated peak speed of 268 miles per hour.

The reported peak speed of the C1000 has never been verified, although it was impressive. The Lotec C1000 has been put into stock and is about to go on sale at a luxury dealership in Miami known as Curated. Only 2,576 miles have been clocked on it so far.
