Nissan’s Sleek New EV, The N7, Targets Chinese Market

Nissan is diving deeper into the EV market with its latest creation, the N7—a sleek electric sedan designed exclusively for China. Built in collaboration with Dongfeng through their joint venture, the Nissan N7 feels like a step in a new direction for the carmaker.

The N7 takes its styling cues from the Epoch concept revealed earlier this year, hitting all the right design trends. Split headlights? Check. Rear light bar? Got it. Illuminated logo? Of course. Add in a swoopy roofline and modern two-tone wheels, and you’ve got a car that’s as current as it gets.

The LED daytime running lights give off a bit of a Hyundai vibe, but the sharp boomerang-shaped accents make it uniquely its own. While some might think this is Nissan’s first electric sedan, they’d be wrong. That title belongs to the Sylphy Zero Emission, launched back in 2018 for the Chinese market. But the N7 takes things up a notch.

Size-wise, the Nissan N7 is right in line with its competition, the Volkswagen ID.7. At 194 inches long and 74.6 inches wide, it’s a substantial presence on the road, though it sits lower at just 58.5 inches tall. Its 114.7-inch wheelbase keeps the proportions balanced, offering enough space inside without looking bulky.

Underneath, a locally developed modular electric platform in China serves as the foundation for the N7. While Nissan hasn’t spilled the details about performance yet, we know it’ll feature “Navigate on Autopilot,” a semi-autonomous driving system. Inside, expect a smooth and responsive experience thanks to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processor powering the tech. Nissan's track record suggests that the interior, still under wraps, will likely boast thoughtful features.

What’s Next?

We expect the Nissan N7 to arrive in Chinese showrooms in the first half of 2025. It’s part of Nissan’s "The Arc" midterm plan, a global push to electrify their lineup. This strategy includes 30 new models by 2027, with seven aimed at the U.S. market. With its striking looks and cutting-edge features, the N7 could be the next big thing for the brand, at least in China.
