Ultra-Futuristic Nissan Hyper Urban SUV: A Bold Evolution Beyond Ariya

Nissan has pulled back the curtain on a revolutionary electric SUV concept, known as the Nissan Hyper Urban, ahead of its full reveal at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show, formerly the Tokyo Motor Show. Targeted at "urban and suburban professionals keen on environmental conservation," this radical design gives us a taste of what Nissan has in store for the next generation of electric cars.

The visual aesthetics of the Hyper Urban concept are a stark contrast to Nissan’s existing Ariya electric SUV. The vehicle sports edgy, geometric lines, prompting speculations about whether Nissan's design team has been drawing inspiration from Hyundai's recent works.

At the front, the Hyper Urban boasts a full-width LED light bar and an angular front fascia devoid of curves, paired with a high-gloss black bumper. Adding a pop of color is the unique lime yellow paint, which Nissan claims shifts its color tone based on the angle of light falling on it.

A lateral view of the Hyper Urban reveals a fascinating four-door setup, featuring butterfly doors at the front and unconventional 'suicide-butterfly' doors at the rear. Though far from practical for day-to-day use, the intriguing design clearly highlights the concept nature of this vehicle. A prominent LED light bar and an angular back fascia dominate the rear.

Inside, the Hyper Urban's cabin is as arresting as its exterior. Though Nissan has only released one image showcasing the rear of the cabin, it's evident that the vehicle is outfitted with plush, lounge-like chairs complemented by expansive ottomans.

Intriguingly, these ottomans are integrated into the front seats and can be folded into the back seats for added comfort.

While details regarding the electric powertrain remain scant, Nissan has revealed that the Hyper Urban will support Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionalities. Furthermore, the car is designed to be receptive to both hardware and software updates. For instance, the dashboard could be upgraded to feature the latest digital interfaces as technology evolves.
