Nissan is tackling the dilemma of football season vs. off-roading with their latest concept, Project Trailgater. Built on the refreshed Frontier Pro-4X, Nissan designed this truck to be the ultimate tailgating and off-roading machine, seamlessly blending both worlds.

Collaborating with Music City Trucks, Nissan loaded the Trailgater with a suite of Nismo off-road accessories. These include a lift kit, revised suspension with forged upper control arms, performance shocks, springs, and coilovers.

Add in a cat-back exhaust, roof rack, auxiliary lights, and 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels wrapped in Yokohama Geolandar M/T tires, and you’ve got a truck ready for serious off-road action. But where the Trailgater really shines is in its tailgating setup. The Nissan Project Trailgater boasts two 43-inch TVs and a bed rack-mounted soundbar. There’s also a Decked drawer system that holds a propane grill and a Dometic cooler, perfect for game-day snacks.

Nissan upgraded the interior by replacing the rear seats with a custom floor leveling plate, which created space for a lithium battery pack, a refrigerator, and Starlink satellite internet for streaming football games in remote locations. It doesn’t stop there: a 180-watt folding solar panel, a fold-out kitchen with a sink, a fire pit, and a variety of electrical gear ensure the party can keep going long after the sun sets.

While Nissan didn’t touch on any performance upgrades, the stock 3.8-liter V6 in the Frontier Pro-4X already delivers a solid 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic and an available four-wheel drive system. The Nissan Project Trailgater will make its debut at the SEMA Show next month.
