Nikola Wants To Build Electric And Hydrogen Trucks.

Finally some good news from Nikola after the deal with General Motors in November 2020. Now they detailed the plan for all-electric and hydrogen fuel-cell trucks. The first project to be released will be the all-electric version of the Tre Truck with a range of up to 300 miles on the North American roads, aimed for metro and regional transportation.

The following released by Nikola project is featuring a hydrogen fuel-cell variant for the Tre, with an 800 km range focus for regional transportation.  At last, Nikola plans to release Two FCEV Sleeper focused mainly on long-haul trucking with up to 1,500 km of range.

The Tre FCEV prototypes will be built in Arizona and German plants in the second quarter of 2021 continuing the next following year. The truck production plans will begin in the second half of 2023. Meanwhile, the Two FCEV prototype construction will start in the second half of 2022, with production penciled for the second half of 2024.

As you can see, the plan is to enter the market step by step. The company’s planning systems are designed to be scalably aimed to handle a greater power and longer-range requirements for the long-haul. This thorough element allows a concurrent integration into the chassis design of the Nikola Two FCEV Sleeper.
