New Mercedes EQE Calls Tesla Model S To A Duel

Mercedes unveiled the new model in its EQE electric vehicle range at an online event yesterday, which will be a direct rival to the Tesla Model S and will boast 292-hp and 660 km of active range. The new Mercedes EQE is 4,934 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 3,100 mm.

In terms of design, it borrows several elements from the EQS, including the LED strip linking the taillights and front grille with lots of sensors. AMG Line package, involves sportier bumpers, larger diameter wheels, and sports seats.

Inside, passengers will enjoy synthetic leather upholstery, wood inserts, massaging seats, the industry's smartest and most futuristic MBUX Hyperscreen infotainment system, and an augmented reality navigation system.

At the time of its debut, the Germans were only talking about the EQE 350 version, which is equipped with an electric motor, giving the driver a total of 292-hp and 530 Nm. It is rear axle mounted and powered by a 90.6 kWh battery.

Mercedes EQEAn all-wheel-drive version will be available at a later date, powered by two motors, one on each axle. The German electric sedan is, therefore, ready to deliver a range of up to 660 km, according to the WLTP cycle.

The EQE's battery charges from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes. The new EQE is equipped with adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering. The model for the European and U.S. markets will start being assembled in the summer of 2022 at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen.
