New Ford Mustang Takes A Slight Power Hit In Europe

Zooming into the future, the latest Ford Mustang for Europe is changing the game. Instead of downsizing, it sticks with its big V8 engine, but there's a twist. The regular Mustang GT, following strict pollution rules, now has a 440-horsepower Coyote 5.0-liter naturally aspirated engine—a drop of 40 horsepower.

But don't worry! Despite losing some power, it still has more muscle than when it first hit the UK scene in 2015. The layout changes for right-hand drive in the S650 model meant they had to tweak the exhaust system, affecting the top power, but it shows Ford's dedication to keeping the V8 alive in a time of smaller engines.

Meet the Dark Horse, the top Mustang in Europe, flaunting 448 horsepower. Yes, it's a bit less powerful, but it comes with a higher price. Whether you like manual or automatic, the Mustang can go from 0 to 62 mph in 5.2 or 4.4 seconds, showing off power with flair.

Launched in September 2022, the Mustang is now available in the UK. The GT starts at £55,585, going up to £65,585 for the Dark Horse. It's pricier than its American version, thanks to the 20 percent value-added tax (VAT). In the US, the GT starts at $42,710, and the Dark Horse at $59,485.

The Mustang GTD is hitting the US market later this year or early 2025. Priced at a whopping $300,000 and needing Ford's approval, it's a rare find. Rumors suggest there might be a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 version with over 800 horsepower.
